Congratulations to Sean for another fantastic performance, this time at the Cycling World Championships, He was the first off the line and was in the "hot seat" as the early leader for quite a while on race day.
He ended up 20th overall and was one of the top 19=year-olds in the field - a great feat in the U23 event! After a few days of rest Sean will be back at it preparing for the upcoming National Track Championships in Milton.

Last week Sean took part in the Pan American Track Championships in Santiago, Chile and took three silver medals! He and the rest of the Team Pursuit squad set a new Canadian record on Wednesday. Sean followed that up with a new PB of 4:24 in the individual pursuit, the fastest qualifying time of the day, which got him to the final. On Friday he rounded out his medal haul with a silver medal in the Points race. CBC picked up that result and posted the following story:
Sean Mackinnon, a 19-year-old Hamilton native, finished second in Friday's points race at the track cycling Pan Am Championships in Santiago. It was the Pan Am Games bronze medallist's third silver medal in as many days. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/mackinnon-track-cycling-chile-1.3216976 |
